by three UW Systems Design Engineering graduates, Kurtis McBride, Kevin Madill and Tony Brijpaul. The team moved into the Accelerator Centre soon after in 2006.
Where we came from.
Miovision was founded in 2005 by three friends and classmates from the University of Waterloo Systems Design Engineering program. In 2007, Miovision built and launched the Video Collection Unit (VCU) and Miovision’s online video processing technology. Together, these were aimed at providing a more accurate and affordable alternative to counting Turning Movement Counts manually at the roadside.
Where we are.
Today we’re empowering transportation professionals, through data and infrastructure, to improve the driving experience for everyone. We have more than 650 customers in 50 countries globally that use Miovision and the power of video to gain insights on their transportation networks and projects.
Traffic Data Collection Firms, Engineering Firms, and Government Agencies alike have found improvements in the accuracy, efficiency and costs of their traffic data collection programs.
Where we’re going.
Technology is changing every facet of our lives. Why can’t it be used to make for better cities? Why can’t it be used to reduce traffic?
It’s time to modernize transportation networks and bring outdated city infrastructure into the 21st century. When we see the lack of innovation in the transportation management domain it really bothers us. We need to rethink our systems. We need to keep pace with technological innovation.
Today we are focusing on bringing cloud-based, traffic management technology to intersections across the world. We believe that by driving this initiative, we are helping to engineer the foundation of the smart city.
Miovision is home to highly motivated and highly talented individuals who are always looking to challenge the status quo. As an organization, we look for the best and brightest in all aspects of our business and we look for team members that live by the following core values:
