Looks To The Future At TRB 2023 - Miovision

The Miovision team made quite the impact at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) 102nd Annual Meeting from January 8-12, 2023, in Washington, D.C. The team enjoyed networking and collaborating with industry leaders and educators and learning about the exciting research in traffic system innovation. This tremendous event focused on Rejuvenation Out of Disruption: Envisioning a Transportation System for a Dynamic Future, the theme of this year’s meeting. Here are some of the highlights and takeaways from this year’s TRB meeting:

Digitizing Transportation Infrastructure

At TRB, Miovision engaged with key transportation associations, including ITE, AASHTO, ITS America, and IRF, to further increase our standing as an industry leader. These associations are advancing the digitalization of the infrastructure to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Miovision emphasizes digitalization as it improves product offerings and expands its capabilities with operational and data analysis tools that improve transportation performance. As noted in keynote speeches and workshops, today’s digital challenges include vast and complex data streams and agencies’ difficulty in upgrading their systems. Miovision’s platforms are designed to ease the upgrade process and can ingest data from various sources and transform it into actionable insights. Where appropriate, Miovision partners with others in the private sector to deliver multimodal solutions that address the challenges examined at TRB.

The Next Generation of Transportation

With the recent acquisition of RapidFlow Surtrac, Miovision was eager to showcase its industry-leading signal optimization solution, Miovision Surtrac.  Surtrac works with Miovision Core® to collect multimodal traffic data and deliver actionable insights, enabling municipalities to get more out of their road networks while keeping road users safe.  On Sunday, January 8th, the Miovision team immersed attendees, which included professors, researchers, and post-graduate students from leading universities in North America, with live demonstrations of the Surtrac AI system, illustrating the advancements in adaptive signal control.  This event was significant, knowing that today’s academic community is producing the next generation of transportation professionals. Miovision had the privilege of hosting a technical reception with these academic leaders and interacting with them throughout the week at poster and lecture sessions, our exhibit, and various other receptions.

Sustainability and Decarbonizing the Intersection

Miovision presented the imperative of decarbonizing transportation, and Miovision’s ability to scale solutions is critical to address climate change. Focusing on decarbonization, the Miovision team was excited to provide live Miovision Traffop™ Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures solution live demos. This intelligent software-based traffic solution ensures optimal signal operations to achieve GHG emissions targets and fuel cost savings.

Sustainability And Decarbonizing The Intersection - Miovision

The 2023 TRB Annual meeting showcased leading efforts to develop and deploy emerging technology. The team at Miovision was humbled and motivated to continue its efforts to support solutions for a safer, more sustainable world. The team would like to thank everyone who participated in this event and those who visited our booth to learn about our innovative traffic solutions.
